Well I received my results last week regarding my submitted art for, the Open exhibition at my local gallery.

Unfortunately I didn't get any work accepted this time, but I'm not letting it get me down, and I'm busy getting things together for the Summer Open Exhibition.
I'm going to try out some different style this time, go back to the more experimental stuff I used to do at college, and if they don't get in, well at least I'll have fun trying.

So watch this space, this year is going to be different... :)

My Latest Sculpt (Dec 2011).

My daughter is a BIG Tim Burton fan and just loves the 'Nightmare before Christmas' Film.
So I put together this sculpt for her Christmas box... I hope you like it.

Jack is a separate figure from the box, and is poseable, (but for safety I have tied him to the box lid)

His head, hands, & feet are all made from Polymer clay, which are connected by a wire frame.

His body is soft, and his clothing is hand painted & stitched.

Jack stands about 2ft tall, so it will give you some scale of the box ect.

The box is mdf, covered with clay, then painted and lined, and has a detachable lid.

Here's a photo of Jack while I was making him, so you can get a idea of his height..

I'm glad to say, my daughter loved the sculpt... I even got tears :)

Well I finally handed in my two piece of Artwork for the Open Exhibition at my local Art Gallery yesterday,

and fingers crossed I'll get a piece selected for the Exhibition.
I have to say I've never been so nervous in my life, and leaving my work art the gallery felt horrible...
All those weeks of work, left in another persons hands... Scary!!!!

I'll find out if I'm in, after the 3rd Feb, and of course I'll post the result here.

The piece I've entered are
'Falling' & 'Fossilized Frog'

'Falling' is oil pastel on canvas,

and 'Fossilized Frog' is a ceramic piece.

UPDATE!!..

Thanks everyone for your facebook comments & help.... I'm glad to say,
Rich has sold his Dolls House, and is already making new plans for his next one, which he's told me, is to be a Victorian Gothic Mansion... which I'm looking forward to seeing.
I'll keep you all posted with updates on this...

New Art work

Well I've been busy over the last few weeks, trying to get together some new Art work, which I'm hoping to enter into my local galleries, 'Open Exhibition'.

I can enter up to three pieces of work, of any media, i.e. oils, watercolours, textiles, etc...

I've finished my first piece, which I am calling 'Falling'... It is oil pastels, on canvas.
I'm still however not quite sure about the wings, where they join the bodies, I don't know if I should soften them a bit to blend with the bodies or leave them alone.

Anyway have a look and let me know what you think....

As for the next two pieces, I'm hopping to start work on a second painting, in the next few days, but I'm also planning on adding a sculpture, either one of my Art dolls or one of my pottery items.
I'll keep you informed to what I decide.

As for the other items I'm working on... I'm finally getting around to finishing off those part done sculpts, that have been sat on my work top for awhile now... yes I know I'm Bad!!!

Anyway with look I'll start posting them finished in the next few days.

Cake Topper

My son's just had his 10th Birthday, and this year we throw him a 'Horrible Histories' Party, as he is a big, big fan of the BBC show.
Everyone came in fancy dress, and my son went as his favourite character 'Pachacuti'

We had a great day filled with lots of fun, ranging from 'Sacrifice the Lama', 'Savage Karaoke', to placing people in the stocks, We even decorated the garden with severed heads, Viking shield, & Straw.....

My son had a great time!

And a Birthday isn't a Birthday with out a cake... I hunted everywhere for a cake to go with the theme of the day, but all I could find was a 'Purple Dinosaur'... Erm NO!!!
So I had a go at making a cake topper for Ben's cake.. Just something simple, and thus 'Bendacuti' was born.

I made the figure, boulders and the flag from fimo, and the teeth from royal icing.
With just a simple sponge cake below.
Nothing Amazing, but I'm glad to say Ben thought it was fantastic!

Today I put all of the piece of the cake topper on to a new base, so that Ben could have a little keepsake of his Birthday... enjoy!

Tudor Dolls House

Just had to tell you all about my Hubby's latest creation...

it's a 1/12th scale Tudor Dolls house... which has been hand-made.

The roof tiles, bricks are all individual and again hand made...

and the windows have a fake lead on them which looks very realistic..

Working Hard On New Wings!!!!

Busy!!!!! Busy!!!!! BUSY!!!!!

Over the last few weeks I have been busy working on updating my website...

I'm having a total re-vamp.... and it's taking longer then I had hope, but I'm getting there!!!!

Just another week, fingers crossed!!! I'll have it finished.

With the new updated website I'm hoping to add some new features... one of which will be a new 'Shop'....

I am currently working on making up some stock.... I'll be selling OOAK supplies, like wings, eyes etc, and I also hope to add some of my minor creations... i.e my beads, little sculpts, mushrooms... aswell as some of my paintings...

I've just managed to finish some new wing sheets, which until the website is updated I'll be selling on Etsy & Faebae....

So Watch this space as I'll and a link when their posted for sale.

WIP on my New fantasy artwork

Hi All

I've just started a new painting/drawing, and I wanted to share with you, my progress.

The piece is on canvas and I have used Oil pastels....

The photo really doesn't show her colours very well, she's alot more vibrant...
& I really want to try and make her look like shes under water, so there's alot more to do on her.

But here's what I've got so far

Update on my Second Goblin

Hi All

I've finally finished him, my second goblin.
Which was again inspired by Brian Frouds Goblins

This little fella was partly done when I last posted, all he needed was making a bit less clean, as he's a coal miner after all!!! ;)

So I've added some dirt and given him a candle in his hat so he can see his way around the dark tunnels of the coal man..

His name is 'Gimbal Delph'

Hi All

As I promised, I'm back to fill you all in on what I've been upto

over the last year, and what creations I've been making.

Well first... I'm glad to say that my New studio has been working

well, and I've completely settled in to my new work space..

Also last summer I made my new place 'Official' by crowning

her with a new sign, which may I add was lovingly made by my

hubby, and is gorgeous...:)xx

So I am proud to introduce 'Secret Garden Studio's' the home of

'Heather Moon Enchantments'

Yeah!!!!!!

On the creation front.......... I've been creating on & off...

trying to juggle a busy home life, helping out at my kids school

doing art project, trying to update my website & group.. all

with my sculpting... so in truth I've only managed a handful of sculpts.

I managed to get Hawthorn Gump (Goblin).. my Felting project finished,

Plus a vampire, that had been sat for ages waiting to be finished,

A little Frost Baby named 'Jack' (sorry about the poor Pic)

Hellboy Bust...

Another little Goblin... which I've just got to age the clothing on

and I want to add a drippy candle in his hat.

and finally there's Gouda.. The Great Wizard (See previous blog)

Which I just loved making, and I'm just in the process of another

Animal Character..

A Rat Medieval Knight to go with Gouda..

So Watch this space!!!

I'm taking my creations on a different route.. and creating bigger pieces

aswell as pieces that are dressed using fabric...

I'm loving the ability to be able to add more detail, and to be able to see

what your doing without a magnifying glass.. LOL!!!

I have total respect for miniature makers!!! You must have so much patience.

unlike me!!!!

Anyway, You'll be able to see all my creations at a Craft Fair at the end of the

year... I'm hoping that it will be around Christmas Time in York (UK)

I'll add dates closer to the time....

Well I think I covered all the sculpts I've made...

If I come across any more when I get down to my studio next,

as currently my garden is swamped after the heavy rain we've had..

I'll post a pic.

Well I better get on with trying to sort out my website, and check in

on my group.. so I'll catch up later.

Needle Felting... Continued!!!

OUCH!!!! I've just stabbed my finger again.....

But even though there has been lots of pain,
I am finally getting the hang of things!!!

I've managed to get his body & one arm done so far, and with fingers crossed & out of the way,
I'm hoping to get him nearly finished today..

Needle Felting!!

A friend of mine from my group... gave me a great link to a fantastic Needle Felting Tutorial..
I've always been interested in it, but never built up the courage to have a go, or had the knowledge to know were to start.

But thanks to this wonderful tutorial, I thought "What the heck!!!".... and I'm finally taking that leap and having a go..

So after buying my first set of needles from 'Kraftmainia' on Ebay... I've set to work, following the said tutorial... I've also decided to make my little character look abit like a little Goblin created by Brian Froud (Wonderful Artist)

Anyway here's some pic's starting with the froud Goblin... I'm just about to start on the hands and then I will begin the felting... I'll post more pic's as and when their done...!

I've had enough!!! and I'm totally fed up....!
Over the last few weeks it has just become silly the amount of spam I am getting on my blog pages..

I've activated my spam filter, but it doesn't seem to be having a effect.
So I've decided to post this message to all those Spammers out there!!

DON'T BOTHER.....!!! NO REALLY .....DON'T BOTHER!!!!

I'm not going to post your spam comments... if you want to advertise you ringtones, flowers etc, etc...... Pay for a advert, like everyone else does,
and leave us all alone!!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who sick to death of the crap we receive daily in our emails, and on our blog comments... More should be done to stop it!!!

Dragon Sculpt

Hi Everyone

Here's the latest update on what I'm currently upto....

Well I've finally finished the sculpting on my dragon, I'm just about to add some colour & his wings..
Here's the latest pic...

I'm hoping to get him finished soon, but at the moment he,
has again, been put to one side,
while I work on a commission piece just ordered.

The Commissioned piece is a 'HellBoy Bust'.... the first for me,
but I'm really enjoying making him.
Here's what he look likes so far...

I just hope I can do Hellboy justice!!!
I'll keep you all posted with his progress.

My other news is that Heather Moon Enchantments has joined
the 'Elfwood' community.

Finally getting some sculpting done!!!

At last I've been able to get my boxes of clay out of storage, and unpack them... It feels like months.. No years, since I was able to do some sculpting...With everything been packed away for the move to my new studio, and the house in uproar with a new dog...sculpting has been a luxury...

But I'm glad to say that today I finally got to have a play and finish some of my previously started projects..... so here is what I'm working on at the moment..

Studio Finally Finished

After months & months of hard work, and running my purse dry... my new Studio is 99% finished.... and I can finally get in and work on some new sculpts.

Over the past few months my hubby, My dad, and I have worked daily on creating my dream studio... from the original pile of wood was born a great work space and I'm proud to announce that the......

I finally have my new workshop/studio and it is fantastic... it's took me, my dad & my hubby 2 days to build it... I just have to finish the interior and then I can start making my creations in my own special place....

Hi all

Just finished a sculpt for us 'Curvy' Ladies.......

She called 'Florence' the Fat Faerie...

I was so sick of seeing skinny little faeries all over Ebay... so decided to hold a competition on my Ebay group to make some fat faeries and 'Florence ' was my entry...

I hope you all like her....The piece is called 'Good Intentions' as she's holding a diet book and is ready to do some ballet, unfortunately the love of chocolate wins!!

Florence is the first in my new series of larger ladies... I'm hoping to put her on Ebay in a few days.............

Great News!!

My Troll Bruce 'The faerie Catcher' won the challenge of the month, in the Yahoo group

I'm really happy, I couldn't believe it when I won...there was lots of entrees and alot better then mine.... this win has inspired me to try some other types of creatures instead of just Faeries....

Beware he catches Faeries for his tea....Fearie soup is the best!!!

Hope you like him, working on a dead fearie now..going though a dark theme at the moment and have to say enjoying it....Faeries demand alot of detail, trolls just need imagination!
